The Kuykendall Coalition is a grassroots community group dedicated to preserving the character and quality of life in our South Charlotte neighborhoods along Providence Road.
For decades, our tree-lined streets and spacious homes have defined the tranquil, family-friendly atmosphere we all cherish. June 1st, 2023 saw the elimination of detached single family-only zoning, making ALL LAND PARCELS able to have duplexes, triplexes, and in some cases even quadruplexes built on them. Of course developers are going to increase density to the maximum in order to increase profits. Recently, there have also been concerning proposals to increase housing density through zoning changes allowing large apartment complexes and townhome developments.
While we support managed growth, we believe these plans go too far. Prioritizing density above infrastructure results in more congestion, overcrowded schools, insufficient public safety services, destruction of greenspace, and a loss of the charm that makes our community special.

- Preserve greenspace and tree canopy significantly above minimum City requirements
- Limit traffic congestion on neighborhood streets
- Maintain high quality local schools
- Uphold property values and appeal
