Public Hearing Scheduled

We received notice that the public hearing for the rezoning is scheduled for Monday, April 21, 2025 at 5:00 pm. The meeting will be held in the City Council Chamber of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Government Center, 600 East 4th St., Charlotte, NC 28202.

In this hearing, City Planning Staff will recommend to City Council that they NOT approve the rezoning petition in its current form. This effectively gives the petitioner an additional month to address planning staff’s concerns and prepare a plan revision that could be approved during the May 19th City Council meeting.

The Kuykendall Coalition also opposes approval of the petitioner’s plan in its current form. Though this rezoning petition has transformed considerably since its original submission nearly two years ago, we cannot yet endorse the plan. We will speak to this point during Monday’s hearing.

Coalition leaders have been in discussions with the petitioner’s team to address concerns brought up by Coalition members. We will continue working with their team after the public hearing to reach an agreement on the plan that will move forward.

We encourage anyone interested to attend Monday’s meeting to show your support for our neighborhood!
